You can create a new normal.
You’ve always felt like something was wrong or different about you.
Like everyone else has been given the handbook on how to have healthy relationships and live a happy life, but not you. That voice in the back of your mind tells you that you’re too damaged or undeserving to have those things for yourself.
When good things happen, you’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And it feels like it almost always does.
Trauma keeps us stuck in the past and holds us back from being fully present in the here and now. Despite what that voice in the back of your mind tells you, there is a pathway through. The “normal” that you’ve known for so long is no longer serving you- but with support, you can create a new normal and find peace.
There is a path forward.
Complex trauma
Complex trauma (C-PTSD) involves repeated, ongoing exposure to trauma. This can include various forms of abuse (emotional, sexual, physical, spiritual, systemic) or neglect (our emotional and/or basic needs not being met).
Our nervous system doesn’t always recognize when we are no longer in an unsafe situation and we can get “stuck” in trauma responses. When good things happen, we don’t trust it and wait for the other shoe to drop.
Unlike single-event PTSD, with complex trauma the “normal” that we’ve known for so long is no longer working for us.
The task in our work then involves creating a new normal in which you feel empowered, grounded, and connected to community.
“Recovery can only take place within the context of relationships; it cannot occur in isolation.”

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based form of therapy designed to help people heal from traumatic experiences. I integrate EMDR into my work to support clients in safely processing painful past experiences, and planting the seeds for new positive core beliefs.

Parts Work
We all have different parts of self that make up who we are as a whole person. Parts work helps us gain insight into ourselves and understand the parts of who we are that we don’t like, are causing us to self-sabotage, or are no longer serving us— all through a lens of curiosity and compassion. I draw from several different parts work modalities including Ego State Therapy and Internal Family Systems.

Creative and Somatic Interventions
Because trauma has such an impact on our body and nervous system, traditional talk therapy alone isn’t always enough. After experiencing trauma, we have to teach our nervous system that it is safe enough now to experience positive feelings. I incorporate expressive arts and mindful movement (Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga) into sessions to support holistic healing. I’ll guide you in building skills to calm your nervous system and shift your emotional baseline to a more balanced state.
